I have been a bit of an emotional wreck this week and ended up thinking a lot. Arguments between "Brexiters" and "Remainers" are also in the equation causing my low. I am an immigrant myself, a French girl who decided to leave her native country because she couldn't stand the hatred over there any longer. I have observed an increasing level of hatred here in England too.
After spending fourteen years here in England, I can observe that people are struggling here. I know people who are genuinely finding it hard to make ends meet. But I truly believe it isn't the immigrants' fault. Politicians haven't addressed the issues of housing and poverty. They have enabled people to buy social houses without replacing them. They have chosen to slash down benefits making the most vulnerable even more vulnerable. Once again, it isn't the immigrants' fault. On Thursday, the murder of Labour MP Jo Cox really hit me emotionally. I am reading more and more about her. She seemed to be a lovely person who valued Tolerance and Altruism. I won't vote next week, I am not allowed to. But since yesterday, I made a promise to myself. I want the world to be a kinder place. I will try to show it by my actions. I will carry on fighting for what I believe in too: tolerance, respect, kindness, helping people the best I can. Wake up people, we need to make this world a better place together, not by being swallowed in a ball of hatred. Have a good day everyone!
